Professor Douglas C. Schmidt Nominated by President Biden

VU-ISIS's Professor Douglas C. Schmidt was nominated by President Biden to be Director of Operational Test and Evaluation, Department of Defense. 

Schmidt currently holds the esteemed Cornelius Vanderbilt Professorship of Computer Science at Vanderbilt University. From 2018 to 2022, he served as the Associate Provost of Research and played a pivotal role as the Founding Co-Director of the Data Science Institute at Vanderbilt University.

Schmidt's diverse career encompasses significant roles, including Deputy Director of Research and Chief Technology Officer at the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University (2010-2012), member of the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board (2010-2014), Deputy Office Director and Program Manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (2000-2003), and Co-Chair of the Software Design and Productivity Coordinating Group within the United States government’s multi-agency Networking and Information Technology Research and Development program (2000-2003). Additionally, he served as the Chief Technology Officer for Prism Technologies (2006-2009) and Zircon Computing (2009-2010).
