Title:
"Emerging Challenges in Distributed Cyber-Physical Systems"
Abstract:
In 2007, the President's Council
of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) named systems
connected with the physical world the number one research expansion
priority towards advancing national networking and information
technology capabilities. Visions of distributed cyber-physical
systems introduce a new set of challenges in real-time and
distributed computing including new programming abstractions,
theoretical foundations, distributed services and communication
protocols. These challenges are brought about by increased
interconnection of subsystems, and the tight integration of
computation, communication, and distributed real-time interaction
with the physical world. This talk discusses emerging challenges
beyond classical embedded systems, and conjectures on new needed
services and solutions for designing, deploying, interconnecting,
and troubleshooting local and global cyber-physical systems. |
