NSF Civic Innovation Challenge grant awarded to the Institute researchers
Thrilled to see Ayan Mukhopadhyay and colleagues Dan Work, Meiyi Ma and William Barbour awarded a $697K NSF CIVIC Innovation Challenge grant to tackle unauthorized road closures in Nashville.
Their project, SENTRY, will use AI + sensor networks to:
👉 Detect illegal closures in real time
👉 Optimize inspection routes
👉 Save millions in costs + reduce disruptions for residents and businesses
This work shows how AI can solve real-world city challenges while advancing research in anomaly detection, human-AI decision-making, and scalable civic tech.
